Dr. Luc Belinga 's Impact Story

Dr. Luc Belinga
Today we have the honor to introduce to you Dr. Luc Belinga, a medical doctor with over four years of experience in emergency medicine, neurosurgery, and humanitarian work. He holds an MD from the University of Montagnes/UY1 and is currently pursuing a PhD in neurobiology at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.
As the founder of the humanitarian association Amemkim, Dr. Belinga has worked extensively to provide free healthcare to rural populations in Cameroon. His experiences in clinical and humanitarian settings highlighted the growing burden of dementia in his country and the urgent need for research tailored to local contexts. After receiving one of the most prestigious and competitive Swiss government scholarships, he delved into research focused on validating circulating biomarkers to improve dementia diagnostics and management in Cameroon and French-speaking African countries. His work emphasizes tools and strategies that are culturally, socially, and economically relevant.
Currently, he is a research associate at the Centre of Psychiatric Neuroscience and Leenaards Memory Clinic at the Vaudois University Hospital Center (CHUV). Despite his demanding research work, Dr. Belinga remains actively involved in Amemkim and serves as a chief council in his locality to continue impacting underserved communities.
He is a multiple-time award-winning physician across Africa and Europe, authoring pioneering publications on Alzheimer's disease diagnostics and dementia management in Africa.
Dr. Belinga Inspires Young Doctors:
“Your medical degree is only as valuable as the impact you make. Prioritize underserved populations, working closely with them to shape your goals and continually add skills to improve their health outcomes. Passion is secondary – observe, engage, and serve your community to identify priorities, define your path, and push your limits. Always stay humble and dedicated.”
We are so proud of his outstanding impact across the globe and hope many more doctors take charge of their dreams to make a difference.
